The group was formed early in 2012 following a tragic road accident in the village. This brought together residents
concerned about the safety of vulnerable road users. It was felt that motor vehicles were too often not giving due consideration to the presence of other road users such as horse riders, pedestrians and cyclists.

A series of meetings resulted in a core group forming a committee and naming itself. Sub groups have been formed to tackle the major initiatives.
Openness is a core feature, all meetings being minuted and the minutes widely circulated. Neighbouring similar groups are kept informed and joint working may take place as required. Everyone is free to attend whenever they wish and there are no restrictions on who can speak.
There is already established a good working relationship with Derbyshire Police and local councillors.
